My Visit to the Agribusiness Growth Summit

Attending the Agribusiness Growth Summit last week was a powerful experience, bringing me closer to the issues, advancements, and passionate people shaping our industry. The summit proved to be a unique platform for exchanging ideas, and I left with a deeper appreciation for the opportunities and challenges facing farmers and agribusinesses today.

The Farmers' Panel: Insight from the Field

One of the summit’s most engaging sessions was the Farmers' Panel, where I had the opportunity to hear directly from agricultural voices who live and breathe the industry. Panelists included Anna Longthorp, a dedicated pig farmer, Abi Reader, who serves as the NFU Cymru Deputy President and is a mixed farmer, and Jono Dixon, a seasoned arable farmer. Their insights into how current issues affect them were eye-opening, covering everything from economic pressures to climate impacts.

As they spoke about their challenges and shared ideas on how they want to be supported, I realized just how crucial effective communication is. For us at Agri.Cycle, understanding their preferred contact methods and addressing their needs in a straightforward, relatable way is essential. Listening to these voices helps us refine our services to ensure we’re genuinely adding value.

Marketing in Agriculture: Red Stag's Perspective

Red Stag also gave fantastic presentations and workshops on marketing in the agricultural industry. They emphasized that to stand out, businesses need to communicate authentically and prioritize relationships. For Agri.Cycle, this message hits home—we’re committed to promoting agricultural plastic recycling in ways that resonate with the community, from individual farmers to large organizations. Red Stag’s talk gave us some practical takeaways on how to effectively convey our purpose and build deeper industry ties.

Meeting the Buyers

Another informative part of the summit was the Meet the Buyers Panel where we got to hear directly from industry buyers about what they look for in suppliers. Seeing Alice Welch from Derwent Buyers Group-one of our franchise partners—was a highlight, as she shared her expertise and discussed the importance of trust and transparency in supplier relationships. This panel emphasized how essential it is for Agri.Cycle to maintain high standards in both product quality and communication, which are priorities for us as we work with partners across the sector.

Lessons from the Pros: James Sweeting and Adam Henson

Hearing from established figures like James Sweeting and Adam Henson was another highlight. James’s talk, focused on business success tips, underscored the importance of adaptability, a skill he’s honed over decades across various industries. He emphasized that in a fast-changing world, resilience is as important as innovation.

Adam Henson, best known from Countryfile, shared his journey, illustrating how he’s driven growth across his range of businesses by leaning on his farming experience and using it as the backbone of his entrepreneurial spirit. His talk was both motivational and practical, offering a blend of inspiration and real-world advice for building a successful business in agriculture.

Final Thoughts

The Agribusiness Growth Summit was packed with knowledge, networking, and practical advice. It was a great reminder that, at Agri.Cycle, we’re part of a larger ecosystem where every part matters, from the farmer up to the corporate buyer. The summit underscored that agribusiness is about more than just products and services—it’s about people, partnerships, and shared purpose.

Looking forward, I’m excited to implement what I’ve learned, foster even stronger relationships with our partners, and continue to advocate for sustainability in agriculture. The Agribusiness Growth Summit reminded me why we’re here: to serve, support, and grow alongside those we work with every day.
